Penneshaw Markets have been hosted since 2005 by the Kangaroo Island Community Market. As a sub-committee of Penneshaw Progress Association, Inc. the markets provide a selling platform for Kangaroo Island residents and feature arts, crafts, plants, local produce, cosmetic jewellery, souvenirs, fundraising by community organisations, clothes, artisan jewellery, leathercraft and old-fashioned boot sales.
Kangaroo Island Farmers’ Market has now merged with Kangaroo Island Community Market to include specialty regional food items such as honey, sourdough bread, cottage craft conserves and pickles, handmade biscuits and cakes as well as ready to eat cuisine.
Join us to meet the local artists, gardeners, growers, authors, photographers, artisans, and small-scale food producers in a social village atmosphere. Stay for an Island specialty lunch in the scenic backdrop of our town Oval or visit the local cafes and restaurants for a freshly prepared meal.
Spend a lazy afternoon on the beach or enjoy one of the many walks around Penneshaw including Kangaroo Island Sculpture Trail, Wallaby Track, Ironhill hike and historic town tour. Visit the Maritime Museum to learn of the early settlers and their pioneer life styles.
Penneshaw Market Days are held the first Sunday of every month, plus Easter Sunday, from October – April as well as to welcome every cruise ship arrival.
